Looking for a job is hard to do, like the saying goes, “Finding a job is a full-time job” but there are ways to become really good at it and minimize the time you spend doing it.

Andrew Hudson provides tips in his article The Best Job Seeking Tips Ever! The one thing that stands out to me about how to think about your job search and your role, is to think about yourself as the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). Really, as blogs, Social Networking, Social Media, Mircoblogging and a host of other platforms out there to promote yourself, embracing your role as the CMO for yourself can lead to a very successful job search.

There are several sites out there that can assist you if you are feeling a little overwhelmed. I recommend starting with a site like Visual CV , Climber.com and Emurse and if you are not on Linkedin you should go there first.

The sites you choose are not as important as the content of your profile. These sites have their content, your profile, Search Engine Optimized so that it can be found on the search engines.

The content of your profile requires the most attention and you should prepare yourself to spend a big chunk of time gathering all your information and putting it together. You should treat this activity just as you would any project.

Let’s say you have multiple profiles, a site like Unhub which allows you to organize all of your profiles under on URL. Here is mine as an example, http://www.unhub.com/johnwalker

Whatever site you choose to start your own job search marketing campaign just make sure you stick with it and do everything you can to promote it both online and off.
