John Walker has seamlessly blended 15 years experience in corporate recruiting and career coaching with online marketing expertise to carry out his dual role of chief career solutions officer and co-founder of Talent Evolution. Talent Evolution builds personal and business brands for job seekers and business owners by harnessing the power of social media and social networking. Whether it’s blogging for jobs, twittering resumes, or creating online portfolios, Walker packages the knowledge job seekers need to brand a professional identity and develop a comprehensive job search in the digital world.
Walker’s Linkedin connections call him a “Web 2.0 guru”. He has online marketing expertise in social media, mobile, video, viral campaigns, search engine marketing, and search engine optimization. Prior to co-founding Talent Evolution, Walker was an interactive solutions consultant for Bernard Hodes Group, a leading integrated talent solutions firm. There he directed the development of corporate recruitment strategies built around social media and social networking. He moved to Bernard Hodes Group from DataQuick Information Systems, Inc. where he was a full-cycle corporate recruiter. During his tenure at DataQuick, Walker developed a community based talent management system with automated job alert emails sent direct to job seekers on a free platform, a project that was ahead of its time and led to the fulfillment of key positions.
Walker has rich full-cycle recruitment experience that spans several industries including retail, real estate technology, civil engineering, and information technology, giving him an inside perspective of hiring practices across industry lines. Furthermore, he has interviewed and coached hundreds of job seekers providing insights into the quest for meaningful employment. Walker discovered his own passion for recruiting and career coaching in the U.S. Army where he worked three of his 12 service years as a recruiter.
Walker, also described on LinkedIn as a “great trainer, speaker, and mentor,” leads Talent Evolution seminars and webinars and provides personal career management services such as cover letter and resume makeovers and interview coaching. He provides recruiting services for businesses as well. He writes a weekly blog for the Talent Evolution website and a job search column for the San Diego edition of Examiner.com. Through both outlets he shares his job search best bets and practices, emerging trends, must reads, and hot topics with job seekers.
In a volunteer capacity, Walker advises the California Center for Sustainable Energy, by aiding the development of online marketing and social media campaigns to increase awareness of the organization. He is a resident of San Diego, California.
